BJJ

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling, especially ground fighting, with the goal of gaining a dominant position and using joint locks and choke holds to force an opponent to submit. It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person using leverage and proper technique can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can be trained for self-defense, sport grappling tournaments and mixed martial arts competition. Sparring, commonly referred to as "rolling" and live drill play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition (although no one is required to compete).

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Technique
This class is recommended for everyone who is first starting in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. These classes focus on the details and fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The fundamentals are a necessity for anyone looking to compete or fight in mixed martial arts. Before you start participating in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Sparring classes, be sure you have done enough technique classes to feel comfortable with all of the terms and positions in Jiu-Jitsu.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Sparring
The live rolling class is to help simulate the length and intensity of a competition. No group techniques are shown. Practices consist of 6-minute timed matches held back-to-back for the entire class time. If you come to these classes, be ready to work and push yourself.
